Perpetual adoration
The perpetual adoration : it is the attitude that expresses in the truest way , what God is for us and what we want to be for Him .
God’s adoration and praise were the first concern of Sainte Odile and her companions . Saint Columban’s monastic rule , which the Community of Sainte Odile refered to, foresaw the " Laus perennis ", continuous praise .
In 1924 Mgr Ruch , bishop of Strasbourg, voiced the wish that a perpetual adoration should be institued in Alsace . He invited the members of the Eucharistical Apostolat to think about this proposal .
Since th 5th July 1931, week after week, groups of men and women who come from different deaneries of Alsace take turns with each other day and night to assure the adoration in front of the blessed Sacrament of Eucharisty .
A group of adorers comprises generally between 20 and 30 persons . One of the adorers told us : " We are here to keep awake and pray, also for those who don’t pray or who don’t pray anymore for reasons only God knows . I think, we have to pray for all mankind , so that one day they’ll hear on the whole world God’s voice saying : " Come, the door is open, I open you my arms , welcome in my Kingdom ."
